Serials

One of the responsibilities of Technical Services is receiving and maintaining records for periodicals. We do this using Serial Control in the ILS.

• Pick-up: It is very important to keep track of what our patrons are reading so that we can better serve them. One of the ways that ACPL can keep track of the use of various titles is the “Mark Item Used” wizard on the circulation toolbar (it looks like a hand over a book). First, walk around the library and pick up any magazines lying around. Select the “Mark Item Used” wizard and scan the barcodes of all the issues found. The issues can then be reshelved appropriately.
