Opening up and cleaning out Star Micronics TSP600 Receipt Printers

Note: Being gentle is key for anything you do with the internal parts of these printers.

If you open up the printer, you can carefully remove the plastic piece that covers the front top:

Carefully pull the tabs out from the sides in the back and slide it forward:

When it's off, you'll see the black part that cuts the paper (the cutter):

Note the diagram on top of it. This illustrates how to use a screwdriver to move the sliding cutting part around.

If you carefully pull the black piece out of its metal holders, you can then use this method to move that part out of the way and see of there's any paper residue stuck in the machine:

Once it's out of the way look around on the bottom of the black piece to see if there's anything stuck in the works. If so, carefully remove it.
