Dear all:
Here, at last, are the final changes to the personnel policies. People who’ve been here over a year will remember that we had several meetings about the library’s not being able to afford its current vacation and sick policies. Here is a summary of major points. They are not final. I am waiting to hear your comments. The vacation numbers include four days to make up for the four days of holidays people are not earning because we are closed Mondays (MLK/Wyoming Equality , Presidents’, Memorial, and Labor Days).
There will be a staff meeting Friday, Nov. 14, at 5:15 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres to talk about these. You will receive a copy of the current personnel policies in your baskets today.
There is no sick bank proposed because we do not have sufficient staff with sufficient sick leave to fund a sick bank.

Additional information is available on the Public drive at:
public\shared\personnel policies\vacation policies by library—this is information on what other libraries in the state, the county, and UW do.
public\shared\personnel policies\personnel policies, third section, 6th draft—this is information about the reasons for the changes--costs, software, etc.
If you would like more information about the background materials, I will schedule a meeting for those interested next week. My goal is to take this to the board this month, to go into effect Jan. 1.
