Messages to Circ Desk Staff
- From time to time, it becomes neccessary to send all Circ Desk staff a message to let them know something or remind them of something.
- A mistake that we're seeing people make repeatedly (not just once)
- A change in procedure
- Something people should watch out for
- First check and make sure the information is correct and that you've written a clear message to people that they will understand.
- Check with the staff (I would say to check with at least 2 people before sending, and the most involved people obviously) involved to verify the information and to to look at a draft of your message first to make sure it is clear.
- Misunderstandings about procedure can happen, and you don't want to spread them.
- Make sure if it's a message that should be targeted to Circ staff, or if it should go to albystaff or in the in-charge announcements.
- Give it a meaningful subject line.
- Send your email to all circ staff. You should save the email addresses somewhere so you can just paste them into the "To" line when you need to do a message. You should include all current Circ desk staff. To have it send correctly, it needs to have their email addresses listed, divided by a comma and a space, like this
fakeemail@will.state.wy.us, fakemeail2@will.state.wy.us, fakemeail2@will.state.wy.us
and so on.
- Also, if it's really important, print out the message, and go around talking with people about it in person also. Make a checklist and check off people's names as you talk with them.
