Cash Register Stuff:
For ringing things up on the register, there are generally 3 steps:
Step1:
Enter the amount. The amount must be entered in cents, i.e. 5 0 0 for $5.00.
Step2:
Select the type of transaction:

XEROX COPIES (1) The Xerox machine has its own payment system, but this button is in case a patron pays at the desk instead. ($0.10 for letter/legal size, $0.20 for 11x17)

GIFTS/DONATIONS (2) Adopt-a-magazine charges, any monetary donations designated specifically to the library *(must fill out donation sheet and place in register)* .

FOUNDATION DONATIONS (3) Donations going to the foundation, endowment, etc. Must fill out receipt.

MICROFILM COPIES 25¢ (4) Microfilm printer in the Wyoming room.

OPAC PRINTER 5¢ (5) If patrons pay at the desk for black & white printouts instead of the box next to the printer.

MEETING ROOMS (6) Meeting room charges. ($12 or $24 increments)

COLLECTION AGENCY FEES (7) Collection agency fees. (Increments of $10)

LOST & DAMAGED MATERIALS (8) Fees for lost/damaged books and Processing Fees.

FINES LOST CARDS (12) Typically these will be from other libraries as we do not charge fines. If the amount is over $5 or over, fill out a “Charges from other Libraries” slip that is found in the top left drawer. Barcode is the patron’s library card barcode number. Replacement library cards ($1) Do Not charge for new cards.

FAXES (13) Faxes sent or received. Faxes Sent - $2 for the first page, $1 per each additional page. Faxes received - $0.50 per page. No charge for cover sheet.

NR USER FEE (14) Issuing library cards to non resident of Albany County. Currently $18.83, but changes with each fiscal year.

FRIENDS DONATIONS (15) Donations to the Friends, magazines from the lobby (that are taken by donation).

FRIENDS MEMBERSHIPS (16) $7 for an individual, $10 for a family. Going up on 3/1/09 to $10 & $13.

FRIENDS BOOK SALE (17) Any books sold, from entry way or sometimes downstairs by Friends discretion.

FRIENDS BOOK BAGS (18) Book bags or aprons that are on bottom shelf at circulation desk ($10) or aprons ($15).

MISC (19) $1 Floppy Disks, $10 ACPL aprons, undesignated gifts.

PAY PHONE MONEY (20) Push Payphone Money button, then CA/AT (Cash), then give $0.50.

LIBRARY GARDEN CARDS (21) $10 Post cards located under middle circ desk. DON’T FORGET TAX!!

FNDN PINS, BASKETS (22) $15 Library pins located on circ desk, $20 red library baskets located next to Bernie’s desk.

COLOR PRINTS (23) $0.25 Color copies printed from Kathy’s printer.

FEES SENT TO OTHER LIBS. ILL, FINES OVER $5 (24) ILL typically $2 for movie or fines that go to other libraries totaling $5 and over.

Select type of payment: Cash, Credit, or Check
